Is
the Government Preventing the Homeless from Death?
Hypothesis:
Bias attacks on homeless have increased in the past
ten years. There have been more bias attacks on homeless people than terrorist
attacks and plane crashes put together. I personally believe that people think
that homeless people are a waste to population. If the government was focused
on the topic then maybe the percentage of attacks would decrease. I believe
that answers to my question like “From a 1 to 5 how much do you believe the
government is helping the attacks” will hopefully help my research. My topic is
“Is the government preventing the homeless from death.” I am doing this topic
to help the homeless have one less thing to worry about and that is death.
Context:
When giving out my survey, I targeted different age
and gender. I targeted ages that very so I could find the ages that knew more
about the problem with homeless attacks. Why I chose to separate in gender was
to see the different opinions that men have over women. After receiving my
positive responses from the audience I targeted. I believe my results are valid
and reliable based off of the feedback. I asked for open ended questions in my
survey to see there honest opinions on how they felt about the homeless getting
attacked. My questions were very straight forward and I believe that the questions
did not sway anyone into a certain answer. Throughout my survey, my questions
stayed the same because it was giving information. The results I got back were
very accurate and I believe they can positively help me throughout my research.

Data
Analysis:
When reviewing over my result, there were many
trends that had stuck out. I had expected the answers that I had got because I
knew that people might have been concerned. Based on my prior knowledge I knew
that people were going to answer my questions the same as I would. Why I
believe that is because not everyone in this world has hatred in their hearts.
People should not be killed because of their life style and because they have
nothing.
Most of the
respondents had answered questioned 8 the same way. They stated that they
believe that if the government focused more on the topic that the number of
deaths will decrease. I believe that this was my strongest finding because it
is a good way to start changing the problem with the attacks on the homeless.
Many people agreed that the government should focus on this topic. If this
topic was to become more known for the government the deaths and attacks will
start to decrease. I know now that the more I let the public know more about
the topic the more it can affect people and then the government should get
involved.
My second strongest finding was question 10. This
question stated that the topic should affect everyone so that it is able to
become more known to the public and government. Most of the respondents answered
the question by agreeing with the statement that I had made. I am glad that
they agreed because this is what I would like to do with this topic and that is
making it more known. I believe that the respondent believe that it should
affect more people because then there will be people that will spread the
problem with the homeless getting killed by the bias attacks,
My third strongest finding was question 4 which said
“why do you think that the homeless are being attacked other than people
thinking there a waste of our population?” Most people answer with saying
racism, poor, and worthless. This was strong because it shows why people
believe that the homeless are getting killed by bias attacks. If people state
more on why they believe that they are getting killed the government can make a
law to protect the homeless.
Conclusion:
My surveys had given me information that can guide
me throughout this project. I know I will need to understand how this
information can put me in the right path; I do believe that it has put me in a
direction that can help prevent the homeless from these attacks. This topic is
very important to me because the homeless already so much to worry about, I
would like them not to have to worry about death anymore.
Follow
Up:
My survey answers have put me in a new path than
what I was in before I had got the results back. With my answers I found that
the government should be more involved so therefore the deaths of the homeless
can start to reduce. Where I must go from here is try to find a way to make it
more known to the public and then raise it up to the government after that. I
will be looking more into how much the government has been looking into this
topic as of now. I will also tell the public more about the topic and how many
homeless people get killed every year because of bias attacks. I am able to
answer my survey questions along with my main question on “Is the government
preventing the homeless from death?”

ReplyDeleteThank You Ben!
DeleteI needed to do 50 words so I'm doing this post over. I really enjoyed reading your blog because it addresses a major issue in Myrtle Beach. This pandemic of homeless people being abused and mistreated is an abomination. I admire that you addressed such a topic =D
